Are you ready to get started making money online? If you’re reading this article then you’re probably already aware of the fact that Affiliate Marketing is a great way to earn money online. It’s incredibly easy to get started as well as low start up costs.
In this article I want to share with you my simple steps to becoming an all-star affiliate marketer!
First – What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is when someone receives a commission by promoting a vendor’s product and creating a sale.
There are a number of ways you can promote an affiliate product. One way is by creating a website and driving traffic to that website. Another way is by promoting the products on social media networks, forums, or video sharing websites.
The different types of products to promote are endless, but they either fall into one of two categories. Physical or Digital. Digital products seem to be a lot easier to promote and sell sinc
The process of promoting an affiliate product is as follows: Find the product you want to promote, receive an affiliate link (a link specific to you so that when a sale is created you will be the one credited), promote that link, create a sale, and receive a commission. Simple as that.
Affiliate marketing is ideal for just about anyone because of it’s extremely low cost. It’s a simple process that doesn’t require a lot of skill or knowledge, you don’t have to spend time or money creating products, and it doesn’t cost an arm and leg to get started.
You don’t have to deal with selling, product management, product creation, or customer service. The vendors deal with all of that. All we have to do is marketing.
Literally all you need is access a computer with internet access.
Second – Choosing Your Affiliate Network
There are hundreds of Affiliate Networks to choose from. This is one of the many signs that Affiliate marketing is a profitable arena. However, with so many affiliate networks it gets difficult to decide on the right one.
There are two major different types of affiliate networks. The type that requires a simple sign up process, and the other type that has strict requirements that you must meet. Since we are talking about “Getting started with Affiliate Marketing” we will discuss the simpler networks. The two most common affiliate networks for beginners are Amazon and Clickbank. Clickbank is actually where I made my first affiliate commission. The two have a very simple process in order to get started. Amazon is more of a physical product affiliate network where as ClickBank is more of a digital product affiliate network. Both are still great places to get started. Third – Getting Started with Affiliate Marketing
Step #1 – Choose Your Niche
First thing you are going to want to do is decide on your niche. What is a niche? A niche is a certain category of products or services. For example, weight-loss, make money online, and beating addiction are all popular niches. The important thing is to choose a niche you are passionate about. Your niche should be:
- Something you are passionate about
- Has a interested market
- Able to make money from
A quick way to do niche research is to see what other people are promoting. If you choose a niche that no one else is targeting, chances are it’s not a profitable niche.
Now that you have chosen your niche, it’s time to move on to step 2.
Step #2 – Setting up a website.
A website consists of 3 main parts. Your domain, hosting, and content management system (wordpress).
Let’s talk about domains. A domain is your website address. For example, my domain is http://youngonlinebizman.com. This is my website address. When it comes to affiliate marketing you want to choose a domain that relates to your niche. you wouldn’t want to choose a domain like loseweightfast.com and write content about making money online. Make sure that the domain matches with your niche. There are generally two great website to purchase domains from.
The cost of a domain is usually around $10 a year. This is extremely inexpensive considering the amount of money you can make from affiliate marketing.
After you’ve purchased your domain you will need to find hosting. Hosting is where all of your websites data is located. Every single website on the internet has to have hosting. Be careful because not all hosting is the same. You want to make sure that you have safe and reliable hosting. Cheap hosting is not always a great thing. Hosting resources is what will determine how fast your website loads, and this is extremely important if you want to rank higher in search engines, as well as keep your visitors happy. There are two very popular hosting services when it comes to affiliate marketing.
Now that we have our domain and hosting, we will need to install wordpress. WordPress is extremely popular when it comes to website creation. WordPress is a content management system that allows users to easily create blogs and websites. I won’t go into detail about wordpress because there is so much free content online that shows you exactly how to set it up. All you need to do is search for “how to setup wordpress on (hosting you chose)” and there will be hundreds of articles and videos showing you how to do this.
Step #3: Adding Awesome Content
Remember, Content is King! Content is what will drive visitors to your website and keep them coming back for more. Content is what will be the cornerstone for website traffic generation. When it comes to affiliate marketing you want to make sure that you create content that people actually want to read and engage with. Don’t share stuff just to share it. This is where true Affiliate Marketers shine above the newbies.
There are basically two ways to create content. First way is to write it yourself. This will be the cheapest and most creative way of writing content. Try and create a schedule for yourself. You want to at least post once a week to your website. The second way to create content is to have people write it for you. This is a valuable resource so long as you have the cash for it. The best place to have content written for you is iwriter.com. Make sure to proof read everything they create for you. After you’ve created your content you need to upload it to your website and move on to the most important part of any business. Driving traffic to your website.
Fourth – Driving Traffic to Your Website
A business is nothing without traffic. You can create the best content and products in the world, but if no one knows about it then you will definitely fail. There are two basic forms of traffic. Paid or Free. Paid traffic is the better of the two, but for obvious reasons may not be an option for most. Free traffic is great if you have a small budget or no budget, but not a choice for people who have little to no time.
This is the biggest difference between them. Free traffic takes little to no money, and Paid traffic takes little to no time. The choice all depends on which of the two your have more of and you are willing to give up. If you want free traffic you can definitely check out my post Top Free Traffic Sources for Affiliate Marketing. When it comes to affiliate marketing your top choices for traffic are going to be:

So to recap. Here are the four steps you must complete to become a successful affiliate marketer:
1. Choose Your Niche
2. Set Up a Website
3. Add Awesome Content
4. Drive Traffic
Don’t be overwhelmed by all of this information. Once you get started it becomes a lot easier. If you want to succeed at Affiliate Marketing make sure you stay committed and focused. I would suggest you pick a niche and stay true to it for a few months. Don’t expect to see results overnight, but it is possible to do so.
